We were attracted to take this cruise for a number of reasons. Firstly, the itinerary was unusual, commencing at Mumbai - although since taking the trip, India certainly seems to be the place to visit in 2008!
Secondly, Silver Whisper is a beautiful ship. We had previously sailed on her from Barbados and had thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Service is second to none. It is no surprise that it is rated as 6star luxury. Cabins are very well appointed, spacious and comfortable. Staff and crew efficient, and only anxious to please. On other ships, one usually assumes that this is in an endeavour to receive handsome gratuities at the end of the voyage, but, of course, on Silver Sea Ships, no gratuities are expected or accepted!!!
Dining was a delight - although personally found that sitting at the table for two and a half hours each evening was a little too long.
Tours were extremely well-run, slick and very enjoyable. Goa is very much in the news at the moment, but our brief stay there showed us beautiful hotels, wonderful beaches, and a desire to return another time. Cochin revealed a wealth of history in it's small town, as did the other stops in Colombia, in Sri Lanka; Phuket, Thailand; Penang, Malaysia - and Kuala Lumpar was incredible - a large, modern, bustling city full of skyscrapers, which have grown so quickly around the waterfront and parks surrounding the metropolis.
We disembarked at Singapore, for us - a special highlight - we were to have a reunion with our son who lives in Australia, and we spent an idyllic few days together before his return - in one direction - and ours to the U.K.
A wonderful, perfect, holiday.
